2025 Programme

We are looking for host applications from people with an interest in outreach and a passion for addressing the inequalities that exist within the STEM sector. Whether you’re an academic, PhD student, technician or other STEM professional, we want you to apply for our programme and share your experiences and skills with underrepresented students to help young people reach their full potential.

Volunteer Information Sessions

Find out more, about the role of a Volunteer host by attending one of our upcoming Volunteer Information Sessions:

  • Wednesday 27 November, 15:00 – 16:00
  • Thursday 12 December, 12:00 – 13:00
  • Tuesday 21 January, 10:00 – 11:00

Each session will be 45 minutes long, including a 30 minute presentation and 15 minute Q&A. These are free to attend and open to all. Registration is now open!

In2STEM Volunteer timeline

November – January

Volunteers are invited to compete our application form for this year’s In2STEM programme. Deadline is 2 February 2025.

November – February

Volunteer online information sessions take place, providing additional details about your volunteering role and the In2STEM programme.

May

You will receive a notification informing you whether or not we have successfully matched you with a student/s on the programme.

June

You will be invited to an online induction session providing tips and guidance on planning and delivering your In2STEM work placement.

July – August

The In2STEM programme begins, and your work placement will occur during a mutually agreed upon period between Monday, July 21st and Friday, August 22nd, 2025. During this period, a staff member may visit you to ensure that the placement is progressing smoothly and gather feedback.

August – September

You’ll receive an invitation to join our celebratory event, along with students and supporters, to celebrate the conclusion of the In2STEM programme with our fantastic young people you have helped support.

Full training provided

Our experienced and friendly staff will be with every step of the way, providing you with all the training and guidance you need to become a fantastic host with us. Work placements take place in July or August, according to your availability.

Suitable pairings

We shortlist students from low socioeconomic backgrounds before matching them to you based on their STEM interests and passions, location and availability, ensuring a suitable match.
