Statement from Board of Trustees on changes to In2scienceUK leadership

A group of young people sit around a table smiling and talking. Behind them are more tables of young people doing the same.

We are saddened to announce that In2scienceUK is saying goodbye to our CEO, Colby Benari, who will be stepping back due to an illness in her family. We would like to take the opportunity to thank her, not only for her steadfast leadership at In2scienceUK but also for her infectious optimism that STEM can be a true catalyst for social mobility. We wish her and her family the best at this time and we look forward to her continued advocacy for social mobility through STEM.

At the same time we are pleased to appoint Stephen Hancock as Interim CEO. As a long-standing and dedicated member of In2scienceUK’s senior management team, we are pleased to have someone with extensive knowledge of the organisation in place while we search for our next leader.

“It is an honour to be asked to serve in this role. Throughout my time with the organisation it is evident there are some things that remain universally true at In2scienceUK:

  1. The unbridled talent and ambition of the young people in our community;
  2. The potential they have to drive innovation, address global challenges and make the world a better place for everyone;
  3. The unwavering commitment of our volunteers, partners, donors and our amazing In2scienceUK team who continue to strive to make this future possible.

It is for these reasons that I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue to work with our incredible community to promote social mobility in STEM.”

Stephen Hancock

Our Board of Trustees will be searching for our next full time CEO. If you or someone you know is interested in leading this fantastic organisation, a job opening announcement will be posted soon.
