Our student stories
During the programme, we have spent a lot of time in both teaching and PhD labs. This was exciting because I had never been to a lab before; it was also beneficial as it helped us become accustomed to the types of places where we would work and study at university.
It is one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life! It is the most productive, yet fun experience I’ve had. It is different every day, and we get to experiment and gain practical experience. Many university students may have really good theory and knowledge, but I will have great practical experience that is already proving to be very useful.
BenUniversity of Leeds, School of ChemistryI am gaining a better insight into what it’s like to be in a lab setting. I like the practical side of my placement. Working with professional scientists and seeing how they work together has been very rewarding.
AlimaRoyal Veterinary CollegeIt’s such a great opportunity, and they also give you a lot of support with workshops. It’s not just placements, and they always follow up and help. On my placement I got to see consultants interacting with patients first-hand. Seeing the importance of communication and explaining to patients every step so they know what’s happening.
DhivyaSt Barts Hospital LondonIt’s given me many more ideas about what I could do, things that I didn’t think were available to me. All I could base my ideas on before was what was taught in school, but now I have real-life experience.
