Eligibility

Admissions to the In2STEM programme are highly competitive. Students applying for the programme go through a shortlisting process based on their application, eligibility, and teacher reference.

To be considered for the In2STEM programme, students must meet all core criteria and at least one additional criteria. We do not take grades or academic performance into account.

Core criteria

You must meet all of the following core eligibility criteria:

You must currently be attending a non-fee paying and state-maintained school with a non-selective admissions policy.

You must be 16 years old or over and a current Year 12 student (S5/S6 college in Scotland) or equivalent.

You must be studying at least one STEM related A-Level (or Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher), BTEC or equivalent.

You must be available to take part in the majority of the programme (Monday 20 July – Friday 21 August 2026).

Additional criteria

You must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

Come from a low-income household, measured by parental occupation at the age of 14.

Be a recipient of or eligible for, Free School Meals in Year 11, or at Sixth form (or equivalent).

Be a current recipient of an Education Maintenance Allowance EMA, Pupil Premium or the 16-19 Bursary.

All parents or guardians do not have a higher education degree.

Have been or are currently in care, or have caring responsibilities.

Have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
