Admissions to the In2STEM programme are highly competitive. Students applying for the programme go through a shortlisting process based on their application, eligibility, and teacher reference. Once this process is complete, we aim to inform all applicants about the outcome of their applications by the end of May.
In order to be considered for the programme, you must meet all of the following core eligibility criteria:
You must be currently attending a non-fee paying and non-selective state-maintained school.
You must be 16 years old or over and a current Year 12 student (S5/S6/college in Scotland) or equivalent.
You must be studying at least one STEM related A-Level (or Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher), BTEC or equivalent.
You must be available to take part in the majority of the programme during the summer (Monday 22 July – Friday 23 August 2024).
To be considered for our shortlist, you must meet at least one of the following criteria. (These may differ depending on region.)
Free School Meals: Be a recipient of Free School Meals in Year 11, or at sixth form (or equivalent).
Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), Pupil Premium or the 16-19 Bursary: Be a current recipient of an EMA, Pupil Premium or the 16-19 Bursary.
Higher Education: Have parents or guardians who do not have a higher education degree.
Experience of Care: Students who are, or have ever been, in care, or students with caring responsibilities.
Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP): Students who have an EHPC.
