In2STEM Student of the Week

As the In2STEM Programme closes on another successful year, we are thrilled to reflect on the incredible achievements of our students, whose hard work, creativity, and passion have made a lasting impact on their hosts. Throughout the programme, students collaborated with their hosts on challenging projects, showcasing their skills and commitment to STEM.

We are excited to introduce the In2STEM Student of the Week, which recognises the outstanding contributions of students selected by their hosts. Each week, one student has been highlighted for their exceptional performance and working incredibly hard during their placement.

We want to congratulate these exceptional students. Their accomplishments have been recognised by their hosts, and we are proud to share their success with the entire In2STEM community.

Take a look at each student of the week

Week 1

Erika nominated two students that were incredibly engaged from day one.

“My students have shown exceptional curiosity, determination, and engagement in all science activities, including learning about zebrafish to study bone diseases. They have been actively interacting with various scientists, asking insightful questions about their careers and experiments. Their enthusiasm and deep reflection on the research have been evident from the moment they arrived. One of my students traveled from London, demonstrating her commitment to learning as much as possible during this week. Both students have exhibited excellent behaviour and genuine curiosity, making them outstanding candidates for Students of the Week.”

Week 2

Jucha nominated Savinidi who asked some wonderful questions.

“Savinidi was a fantastic student. When she first arrived, she was quite shy, but as the week went on, she really flourished. I could tell she was really pushing herself to ask questions, build her confidence, and find interesting aspects of everything we did. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of her work and how quickly she took on feedback and collaborated with me.”

Week 3

Damith nominated Mahdi and Redowan as they went above and beyond to research concepts that were new to them.

“Both students demonstrate eagerness to learn new concepts. They effectively collaborate in a team to overcome challenges encountered in the assigned project. They work on the assigned project with enthusiasm and commitment, making it a personal endeavour. They consistently arrive earlier than requested and willingly stay late to ensure the project’s completion. They maintain a positive attitude towards work and are dedicated to achieving meaningful results. “

Week 4

Irene nominated Samia, Siham, Enoch, Ivan, and Hamza who all took on different roles and developed essential team working skills.

“Samia, Siham, Enoch, Ivan, and Hamza have shown such a genuine interest in engineering and science. I’ve been really impressed by how quickly they acquired the skills needed for their tasks: writing a research grant application, reading a Nature paper and preparing a poster, building a bridge, and even thinking about the ethical implications of an engineer’s work. If this is the next generation of engineers and scientists, I’m confident we’ll be able to effectively tackle the immense challenges our society will face in the coming years!”
